Rising School Sessions

Monday to Friday 9.00am to 11.30am

These sessions will provide the children with the necessary opportunities to build on skills in all areas of learning. We hope to put in place a firm foundation of experiences to prepare children for continued learning as they move into school. Numbers allowing, Rainbow Teddies Pre-school will hope to offer five morning sessions. Priority will be given to the children already attending the Teddy Tots sessions. During the Summer Term, the Pre-school Manager will hold Rising School Introduction Visits to enable parents to meet with the staff and inform them about the Rising School routine and curriculum. During the Rising School year we will link up with Manorbrook Primary School and St. Mary's and involve the children in various school based activities. As the children feed into various schools in Thornbury, we will invite the Reception Teachers to visit the setting during the Summer Term to meet with their new reception children.

Teddy Tots Sessions

From September 2009: Monday and Wednesday afternoons - 1.00pm to 3p.m.

From January 2010: Monday to Thursday afternoons - 1.00 p.m. to 3 p.m TBC

12.30pm for Nursery Grant eligible children

These sessions will cater for the needs of the Rising Three Year Old. Whilst children are under three years of age, ratios will be 1 adult to 4 children. From 3 years of age the ratio rises to 1 adult to 6 children.

As the children on these sessions are so young and develop at different rates we have outlined some guidelines which will help parents settle their children into the pre-school routine.

It may be advisable for parents to attend a few sessions with their child until he/she becomes familiar enough with the staff to express his/her needs. We hope that a parent/carer will stay for the first few sessions anyway until your child is confident with the surroundings and happy to be left with the staff. This time will also enable parent/carers to get to know the staff and become familiar with the routine.

By the time the children finish their Teddy Tots Sessions in the summer we hope that all children will be well prepared for the morning Rising School Sessions which will be offered for the following September.
