Aims of the pre-school

To ensure a good standard of care across the pre-school we aim to continually consider the following points.

  1. To encourage a caring, sharing attitude between the children, giving rise to self-respect and respect for others.
  2. To recognise the importance of the home life of the child and build on this foundation.
  3. To create a relaxed atmosphere where the child is able to develop at his or her own pace.
  4. To provide the time and opportunity for a child to develop in all areas, through a wide range of experiences and activities that are organised and planned in an enjoyable, secure and caring atmosphere.
  5. To provide children with activities and experiences which foster an awareness of their environment and the wider world.
  6. To create opportunities for experience in writing, reading and mathematics.
  7. To provide a well-planned and structured pre-school curriculum whilst taking into account any opportunity for spontaneous learning.
  8. To prepare the children for the transition from pre-school to full time school.

We will provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can learn through play. This will allow children to gain social skills, confidence and independence through interaction with other children and adults. We aim to provide opportunity for all children to have access to good quality education, based on a broad based curriculum delivered by well-qualified staff.

Through a comprehensive Keyworker system all children will be carefully monitored and the staff will be able to assess children’s individual needs. These needs will then be incorporated into the Curriculum Planning.
