About Us
Rainbow Teddies Pre-school is run by a Management Committee made up of parent/carers of children attending the group. We provide quality learning through play opportunities for the children of Thornbury and the wider community.
Established in 1967 we have provided pre-school learning facilities for many children, and in 2003 were able to open a second site to provide more places for the increasing demand for our provision. In September 2005 we amalgamated the two groups onto the site at Manorbrook Primary School, now occupying an additional classroom to increase the space available. We now occupy 2 classrooms and have access to a large garden space.
We are a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, Children’s Playlink and we are registered with OFSTED. We have received very favourable OFSTED Reports which can be viewed on the OFSTED website at www.ofsted.gov.uk. We are also registered with the Local Authority to receive the Nursery Grant.
The group is a non-profit making charitable organisation run by a voluntary Management Committee of parents and carers where the officers are elected at the Annual General Meeting. All families with children attending the pre-school are members of Rainbow Teddies Pre-school. We provide various opportunities where parents and carers can become actively involved with the group. We hope that an adult from each family will be able to help by possibly serving on the Management Committee, taking part on the Parent/Carer Helper or Washing Rota or providing support at events which happen during the year. We firmly believe that all parents/carers have a variety of skills and strengths that they can bring to the pre-school.
Parents and children are welcome to visit at any time to meet with the staff and learn more about Rainbow Teddies Pre-school. An appointment is not always necessary but a phone call will ensure you visit at a convenient time for someone to speak with you.
